Hi Beauties!!
Hope y’all have had such a great week so far! I’m here to share about the 2nd book I read in January! I’m so excited to share my thoughts on, Mindset by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D! It’s all about the growth mindset & how we can learn to fulfill or potential! From an inner relationship to parenting, teaching, coaching, developing relationships, etc! I think this book is so valuable to anyone that is willing to read it!
What I love about this book is that all of the information is tangible, after reading this book, you’ll be equipped with tools to developing a growth mindset! In my opinion, be a better self, parent, teacher, family member, leader, etc.
When reading any type of nonfiction book, I think underlining, marking the page, highlighting, etc. makes for much better understanding and for me, makes a big difference in actually learning the information!
One of my biggest takeaways and understandings from this book about the growth mindset is focusing on developing, learning, becoming better, instead of natural abilities and striving for performance and proving you’re the best. Also, when talking to yourself or praising others for their accomplishments- praising what it took to get there and the work they put in and developed, not based on their ability. I believe the growth mindset is necessary for learning from failures and not being afraid to fail, truly developing into a person that can change anything in your life because you know you can continue to learn, grow a new skillset, become better, etc, while the fixed mindset focuses so much on natural performance or lack thereof and believes that whatever you were born with and/or your circumstances own you.. and that’s just not true!
I’m so thankful this book was recommended to me & I took the time to read and soak it in! I’ve already begun to make shifts in my own personal mindset, as well as when I’m communicating with my husband and I’m so looking forward to teaching my kids the growth mindset, such a life changing perspective! You can bring out the best in yourself, friends, family, the children you teach, the people you influence, and truly be whoever you want, it’s all about your mindset!
Let me know if you have read or choose to read this book, I’d love to hear your thoughts!!
Xoxo,
